  • Nick Wey & MDK/KTM Cruise To Another Top Ten

Wey moves into the top ten (8th) overall points chase of the premier AMA Supercross class – the highest overall placing yet for KTM and its 450SX motocross bike – with an 8th at Anaheim 3

CARLSBAD, Calif., (Feb. 5, 2008) – Team MDK/KTM’s Nick Wey scored another top ten finish in the premier AMA Supercross class – his third of the season – coming in at 8th place in Saturday’s main event at Anaheim’s (Calif.) Angel Stadium, Round Five of 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.

Wey, who nailed a 5th place finish in the first heat race in order to transfer to the main, pulled a solid start in the evening’s final race and moved up to 8th place by the end of the first lap. Wey then put his Outdoor Nationals MX skills to work on the sand-laden and heavily rutted Anaheim 3 track, holding tight to his 8th place position through out the entire race.

“There were a lot of variables that made for a difficult race,”
said Wey. “But my MDK/KTM 450 was up to the task. On top of having an incredible amount of power, the bike’s balanced very well. This was especially evident when I had to transfer from the deep sand to the ruts that had formed in the clay. There’s a fine line between power and balance and the team had the bike dialed well for the conditions we faced at Anaheim 3.”

With his 8th place finish overall Wey moved up into the top ten in the premier Supercross class standings. Tied with Ivan Tedesco for 8th place (53 points), Wey’s only a handful of points outside the top five as we’re barely a third of the way through the season.

Next up for Wey and the MDK/KTM team is San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, Round Six of 2008 Monster Energy Supercross (Feb. 9).

Also stepping up to back Wey this year, along with MSR and KTM, are a number of high level sponsors including: Spy Optic, Oxtar, Vans and Bell.
