Irvine,
Calif. –Following the injury to Monster Energy Kawasaki rider James
Stewart, the team is preparing to add a substitute rider for the
remainder of the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM
Championship.
The team is currently evaluating a number of riders and is expected to make a decision prior to the Anaheim 3 on Feb. 2. Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Timmy Ferry will race without a teammate this weekend in San Francisco after Stewart’s injury ended his supercross season.
“We are a racing team and we always want to compete in the spirit of the sport,” said Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Mike Fisher. “Timmy is a great rider and we will continue to give him support on the track with a teammate. Right now we are looking at our options and are hoping to make an announcement soon.”
Round 4 of the Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM Championship will take place on Saturday with television coverage scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27 at 12:00 pm ET, on CBS Sports and CBS HD. The race will be the first supercross event broadcast in high-definition on CBS.
