Unbound Energy’s Reed On Podium @ Vancouver World SXGP
Reed leaves Canada 2nd in the o/a points; teammate Nate Ramsey 6th @ Vancouver
CARLSBAD, Calif., (Dec. 11, 2006) – Unbound Energy’s Chad Reed was on the podium for the second consecutive week on the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP tour, backing up his win in Toronto the previous Saturday with an admirable 3rd place finish at Vancouver’s B.C. Place.
Reed, who trails Vancouver winner Ricky Carmichael by only two points in the World SX GP standings (47-45), suffered a poor start in the main event and had to play catch up to frontrunners Carmichael and James Stewart.
“I didn’t get a great start and struggled in the main event – that was obvious,” said Reed. “I’d like a do-over on that race, but you live and learn and I’m not going to stew over this one.”
Reed admitted that the new San Manuel/Yamaha team acquired a mountain of R & D data in their two Canadian World SX GP rounds, shaking down the Yamaha YZ450F to get it ready for the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series that opens on Jan. 6th at Anaheim’s Angels Stadium.
“We learned a lot over here in Canada these past two rounds,” said Reed. “We grew as a team and I feel great physically. It’s going to be a hell of a supercross season in the States and I can’t wait for it to begin.”
Reed’s teammate, Nathan Ramsey, also had an excellent weekend, finishing 6th overall in the Supercross class main event.
Next up for Unbound’s Reed, Ramsey and the San Manuel/Yamaha team is the opening round of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Anaheim’s (Calif.) Angels Stadium (Jan. 6).
