Unbound Energy’s Chad Reed Opens World SX GP Season in Toronto
New team, teammate and sponsors have former champ pumped to start SX campaign
CARLSBAD, Calif., (Nov. 29, 2006) – Unbound Energy-backed Chad Reed and his newly formed San Manuel/Yamaha race team will open the 2006 Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP season this weekend at Rogers Center in Toronto.
Reed, the 2003/’04 Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP champion and 2004 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series champion, will again run the Unbound Energy logo for the 2006/’07 competition season, along with San Manuel/Yamaha teammate and good friend, Nathan “Nate Dog” Ramsey.
“I can’t thank Unbound Energy enough for getting back on board with our new program this year,” said Reed. “I’ve had an excellent relationship with Unbound Energy and look forward to putting them back up on the podium through out the supercross season again this year.”
Last year Reed finished tied with James Stewart with 336 overall points in the AMA Supercross class. His 14 podium finishes (out of 16 races) tied him with overall champion Ricky Carmichael, who won the series by only two points over Reed and Stewart. Reed had two wins on the season, those coming at St. Louis and Dallas.
Ramsey would wind up 6th overall in the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series’ Western Lites Regional. With wins at Phoenix and San Francisco, coupled with podium finishes at Anaheim 2 and San Diego, Ramsey was on the podium in four of the eight Western Lites rounds.
