Janesville, WI – The 13th Annual Rocky Mountain 400 sponsored by Thor, Alpinestars and Moose took place in Crested Butte, CO. September 12 -15, 2006. For the past 13 years, the RM 400 has provided top dealers from around the country with the most beautiful riding scenery possible. Along with the ultimate views, the Colorado weather stepped in and treated all participants to some of its unpredictable weather with snow, hail, rain and sunshine.

Each Parts Unlimited sponsored ride kicks off each event with a vendor’s row and during the RM 400, it was no different. Vendors took over the parking lot of the hotel by setting up canopies and trucks. Everyone in attendance was given the chance to hit up each vendor for free swag and information on new product lines. An amazing prepped lunch and tech inspection followed vendor’s row. The RM 400 is essentially a dual sport ride, which meant riders had to have a license plate, lights and most importantly be below the legal decibel limit. Once everyone passed tech inspection and had time to relax and mingle, a welcome dinner kicked off the first night of the RM 400.

Not only did top dealers and vendors from around the country make the trek to the Rocky Mountains but top riders and industry personnel such as well. Doc Bodnar and Steve Augustine from the Asterisk Mobile Medical Unit took time out of their busy schedule to enjoy a week of riding and assist with any injuries acquired during the ride.

Wednesday morning riders met outside the hotel to head out toward Ouray, CO, where riders would be staying for the next two nights. The ride included everything from street, dirt and trail riding on the day long trip to Ouray. Thursday’s ride allowed riders to choose their path and ride through the Rocky Mountains in any direction.
After everyone had made the journey back to Crested Butte Friday, an appreciation dinner and banquet was held to announce awards and thank everyone who attended this year’s RM 400. During the banquet, special awards such as “most helpful” and “brain fade” among a few other awards were handed out to dealers and vendors who qualified for each award.
