International Supercross Returns to Sheffield, England October 28, 2006
Future West Promotions will stage its 10th Anniversary Sheffield International Supercross on October 28th. The home of British Supercross, Sheffield’s Hallam FM Arena in the heart of South Yorkshire, England is ready to stage the best Supercross event the UK has ever seen.
Premier US Track builders Dirt Wurx USA will for the first time build the Sheffield International Supercross track. 10th annual celebrations include the return of 7 times US Supercross champion Jeremy “Showtime” McGrath. McGrath who made his first visit back in 1997 in what turned out to be an epic battle between himself and Larry Ward will take on US star rider Frenchman David Vuillemin. Also set to take Sheffield by storm are Subway Coca Cola Honda US rider Jason Thomas who won last year’s Montreal Supercross and defending British Supercross Champion, Kawasaki Canada’s Colton Facciotti. Colton is coming off his best Canadian Motocross season to date. If that line up wasn’t enough also making the trip to the UK will be US Superstar rider KTM’s Mike Alessi. Alessi, currently in a dogfight for the US Motocross Lights Outdoor championship has become a regular to UK Supercross over the past few years. Top UK riders include Ulsterman Gordon Crockard, three time British Supercross Champions Rob Herring and Neil Prince, Enduro great Paul Edmondson and many other top British riders.
Along with top riders from around the world Future West is also planning a host of other festivities including a one off British Supercross Master’s final featuring past and current British Supercross stars. Past British great’s will also grace the podium and reminisce on the past 10-year’s of Supercross action. Youth and amateur riders will also tear up the track during the breaks in the pro action all vying for Future West British Supercross Championships.
