  • Another 2006 Rockstar U.S. Open Enhancement: New Track Designs for Each Night

The First-Ever Toyota Trucks Trifecta to Race on Two Different Tracks

AURORA, Ill. (August 3, 2006) – The 2006 Rockstar U.S. Open, held inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena October 13-14, will feature – for the first time in history – a different track design for each of the two nights of racing.

Dirt Wurx, the official track builders of the Rockstar U.S. Open, will re-sculpt the track after Friday night’s competition, giving racers and fans alike an exciting new look for Saturday night’s racing. The course will be laid out on the floor of the MGM Grand Garden Arena, featuring six unique lanes and the traditional outdoor portion of the track. The starting gate has been moved to the south end of the arena, which should foster faster starts.

“We are excited to challenge the riders with a different track for each night of racing. Not only will Saturday night’s event have a different track, it will be run in the opposite direction,” said Todd Jendro, senior director of operations, Rockstar U.S. Open. “This is an exciting enhancement  for the fans as well, as it completely changes the strategy with the Toyota Trucks Trifecta on the line.”

The unique track design will be a key factor in the Toyota Trucks Trifecta. Built into this year's U.S. Open format will be the three part Toyota Trucks Trifecta bonus program that will pay additional money to the fastest qualifier for each night's event, a bonus to each night's holeshot winner and a bonus for any rider that can complete the Toyota Trucks Trifecta challenge by being the fastest qualifier, getting the holeshot and winning the main event. Any rider that hits the Toyota Trucks Trifecta will earn a $50,000 bonus each night in addition to the regular event purse and any rider that can "Double Down" and hit the Toyota Trucks Trifecta both nights will walk away with $250,000 for the weekend.

Tickets are now available for the ninth-annual Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas October 13-15, 2006 at www.ussx.com, www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 702-474-4000 or the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office. Regarded as one of off-road motorcycling’s premier races, the Rock Star Energy Drink U.S. Open is the final ‘major’ race of the motocross season. Tickets are available for as low as $20 through Ticketmaster.com. Fans can upgrade their weekend experience with the X-Treme Package.
