  • Jason Lawrence Battles for Top Spot at RedBud National Rollercoaster Ride

ROCKSTAR Suzuki’s top Lites class racer runs with the leaders in the first moto, but a second moto crash  relegate the up-and-coming star to 9th overall

ROCKSTAR Suzuki’s fun-to-watch Lites class racer Jason Lawrence gave season’s largest crowd a taste of his potential on Sunday when he raced with the leaders in the first moto and battled back from 30th to 11th in the second moto after getting caught in a pile up.

“I’ve got the speed, just have to get this crashing stuff out of my system,” said Lawrence. “It’s getting old quick.”

In the first moto Lawrence pulled an excellent start and battled with the lead riders – including series point leader Mike Alessi  and with Mcfarlane for 2nd place for 33 minutes– for the entire moto. Lawrence was poised to podium ahead of Alessi, when a last lap mistake cost him a podium spot and he wound up 6th overall.

Things got worse to start the second moto when Lawrence got a bad start combined with a first lap pileup.  Lawrence came around the first lap in 30th place and rather than fold, the New Jersey flyer buckled down and began picking off the world’s best Lites class racers in exciting fashion. One after one, Lawrence got by them until he nearly made it back to the top ten, finishing with a well-deserved 11th overall and salvaging a top ten overall performance on for the day (9th).

ROCKSTAR Suzuki athletes – led by Lawrence, Sean Hamblin, Mike Brown and Ryan Mills - return to action for Round Six of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship at Unadilla in New Berlin, N.Y. (July 16th).

Team ROCKSTAR Suzuki would like to thank its sponsors:  Bill’s Pipes, Alloy, Moto Metal Custom Wheels, Dunlop, Renthal, Renthal Chain Wheels, Torco, K&N Filters, One Industries, 661, Sunline/ARC, RG3, Moto-Master, Hinson, UFO Plastics, Quiksilver, AC Racing, PPG.
