Unbound Energy Has Five Riders In Top 12 Overall at Red Bud
Chad Reed, Tim Ferry, Nick Wey, Kyle Lewis and Josh Summey all on it at Red Bud!
CARLSBAD, Calif., (July 3, 2006) – Yamaha’s Chad Reed led a
contingent of Unbound Energy-backed racers yesterday at Buchanan’s (Mich.) RedBud Outdoor National that saw an amazing five racer running the popular Unbound logo place in the top 12 overall at the highest-attended round of the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship to date (25,000-plus).
Reed, who finished on the podium for the fifth time in five races,
had two excellent motos, going 3-3 for third place overall at RedBud.
Reed has a solid hold on second place overall in the standings.
Local (Michigan) hero Nick Wey was definitely the fans’ favorite at
the event and didn’t disappoint, reeling in and battling with
factory Honda racer Davi Millsaps in the first moto and running well
in the second moto for 7th place overall (6-8).
“Definitely the race I look forward to the most during the
summer,” said Wey. “I’ve logged a lot of laps here over the
years and it was fun having all my family and friends at the race.”
The Unbound-backed Moto XXX team had their best overall finish of the year as a team with Tim “Red Dog” Ferry leading the charge in 6th overall, highlighted by a 5th place finish in the second moto. With
the effort Ferry moved into the top ten overall in the Motocross
class standings. And nailing down his best personal finish of the
year was Kyle Lewis. Lewis went a solid 10-10 for 10th overall.
Rounding out the Unbound/Moto XXX racers in the top 12 was Josh
Summey (8-14, 12th o/a). Summey’s currently in 9th place overall in
the Motocross points chase.
All of the Unbound Energy-backed athletes returns to action for Round Six of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship at Unadilla in New Berlin, N.Y. (July 16th).
