  • Team WBR Suzuki Signs Brian Gray in Time for National Outdoor Championships

Bakersfield, CA - WBR team owner Brad Williams announced today that 2003 AMA Motocross/Supercross Rookie of the Year Brian Gray has signed with Williams Brothers Racing and will race in team colors this Sunday at Hangtown.

"We are really excited to have Brian ride with us," Williams said.  "He's just come off a great season in the Western 4-Stroke Nationals."  Gray (#57) will be joining Ryan Morais (#82) and Ryan Sipes (#36) as part of the three-man Supercross/Motocross Lite team.

Gray swept both the 250F Pro and Premier Pro Championship titles in the Western 4-Stroke MX Nationals finishing up the season last weekend.

It was a race to getting a bike race ready in time for this weekend.  Team Manager Tony Sulek was able to replace Gray's Honda for a Yoshimura-modified, factory supported Suzuki RM-Z250 with only a few days notice.

For the 21 year old Floridian things are coming full circle.  He came out of the amateur division in 2003 and grabbed everyone's attention that year pulling an 8th overall in his first pro race at Hangtown.  He was riding a privateer Suzuki then as an amateur support rider but was quickly picked up by Team Suzuki as full-fledged factory rider.

A couple of injuries have slowed him up and this last year he has been recovering from a major melee with Travis Preston at the Steel City National leaving him unconscious with some broken facial bones.

"I had to go out and find a day job," Gray winced about his recovery period.  "It took some time, but I'm back and really excited to be riding back in the AMA Motorcross Championship series and with Team WBR."
