  • Kevin Windham's Supercross of Poker to support Road 2 Recovery

THE DIVISION, Racer X and Bluff Magazine proudly announce the inaugural annual Kevin Windham Supercross of Poker at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Held in tandem with the Vegas Supercross Finals, partial proceeds from the Kevin Windham Supercross of Poker celebrity studded tournament will go to benefit injured riders through Road 2 Recovery; a non-profit foundation dedicated to helping AMA licensed motocross members with financial assistance if they sustain career-ending injuries as well as providing motivational, emotional, and spiritual support to these individuals and their families. The Road 2 Recovery is recognized as a 501-c3 tax-deductible charitable foundation. For more information about the Road 2 Recovery Foundation, please visit www.road2recovery.com.

“I’m proud to have Road 2 Recovery as our charity partner. I think I speak for all my peers when I say how grateful we are to have an organization like them supporting us. This tournament is about having fun in a competitive environment, spending time with our fans and helping a very worthy cause,” said Kevin Windham. “Furthermore, without the generous support of our sponsors:  CDPoker, SoBe/NoFear, Bluff and Racer X Illustrated, none of this would be possible,” added Kevin.

“As a former racer, I know that a catastrophic injury can happen at any time, which will mean months to years of recovery and physical rehab. I got involved with Road 2 Recovery because of my love for motocross, and the absolute necessity for a foundation that looks after the riders during their time of need. We’re grateful for Kevin’s generosity and recognition of Road 2 Recovery's goal by supporting us and all of his fellow riders,” said Jimmy Button, Director of Road 2 Recovery.

With cash prizes estimated up to $200,000 and participation by the top riders in the industry, this event has grabbed the attention of the Action Sports Industry as a whole. The Kevin Windham Supercross of Poker will kick off the first annual event at Bally’s on Sunday, May 7, 2006. Bally’s; one of Vegas’s most popular poker rooms and home of the World Series of Poker circuit will host the tournament from the infamous Pacific Ballroom. A limited 200 seats are available for reservation through www.CDPoker.com/supercross where players can pay to play to win a $1000 seat to the main event.  (Must be 21 years of age or older to participate). The tournament will play 200 entries, starting at 11:00 AM and play down until a winner is crowned champion. Competing for a prize pool estimated to reach $200,000, the first place winner will take home a large cash prize as well as a continue on with a $10,000 sponsored seat, serving as the official representative of the motocross industry at the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event. Confirmed participating celebrities include Kevin Windham, Chad Reed, Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Ivan Tedesco, Jeremy McGrath, Tyler Evans, Billy Laninovich, Jeff Emig, and Jimmy Button.

As an official satellite event of the World Series of Poker, the Kevin Windham Supercross of Poker will grant the winner automatic entrance into the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event Championship, where they will have the opportunity to win a part of the $60 million plus expected purse.
