Monster Energy Welcomes GNCC Great Fred Andrews To Its Stable Of Powersports Athletes
Monster Energy backs former AMA Grand National Cross Country Series champion and two-time AMA National Hare Scrambles champ
CARLSBAD, Calif., (April 14, 2006) – Over the river and through the
woods – and blowing right past grandma’s house – is the newest addition
to the stable of champion Monster Energy-backed powersports athletes –
Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series star Fred Andrews.
“Fast Freddy” as he’s known in the highly popular eastern form of cross
country endurance off-road motorcycle racing (aka GNCC’s), entered this
form of motorcycle competition just for kicks a number of years back
following a successful career as a privateer motocross racer. And
wouldn’t you know it, Andrews won the title (’93) and has been one of
the series’ top competitors and fan-favorite riders ever since.
“We’re looking forward to having Monster aboard this summer as our
official energy drink,” said Andrews. “Good to be back with Kawasaki
this year and, like with motocross, the Monster Energy product and
Kawis make for a solid combination. We’ll work hard to put Monster up
on the box here through out the summer and this coming fall on the GNCC
tour.”
Through four races this year on the GNCC tour, Andrews, who hails from
Ohio, is in fifth place overall – his top finish in the grueling cross
country event being a 5th place at “The General” in Washington, Ga.
Andrews returns to action the weekend of April 22-23 at Loretta Lynn’s
Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., for Round Five of the GNCC tour.
Monster Energy supports the sport. Be it dirt bikes, surf, skate, snow,
BMX – name it – the athletes are rockin’ Monster Energy more than
anything these days. Check out all the flavors – Original Monster
Energy, Monster Lo-Carb, Monster Assault and the new Monster/ fruit
juice hybrid called “Khaos.” Fred Andrews digs it – so will you. On the
