  • Tarah Gieger Injury Update

Tarah is on her way back to a full recovery from her mishap last year at Washougal.  Prior to that race (the 4th round of the Women’s Motocross Association’s five-race series), Tarah was tied with her teammate Sarah Whitmore for second place.   The first moto of that race went to points leader Jessica Patterson, with Tarah right on her back tire for second.  The second moto was sure to be a great race.  Tarah got a great start, but crashed going through the whoops.  She was taken to a local hospital, where it was determined she fractured the base of her skull and chipped a vertebrae.

When it was all said and done, Tarah was required to wear a neck brace for 3 months.  Once the neck brace came off, and not yet being cleared to ride, she began doing what she loves, surfing at her home in Puerto Rico.  Tarah is an outstanding athlete and incredible surfer. She plans on competing in a national surf event later this year.

As for riding her motorcycle again; She received her release to ride her motorcycle in February.  Once she obtained the release, she was on the bike and competing at a local event in Florida, where she showed she still has her speed by obtaining second.  News of her rapid recovery spread quick, which allowed her to pick up some new sponsors, including helmet painter, AP Designs, who provided Tarah with an awesome looking lid.

She is racing for the Richardson’s RV team, which has been behind her since the last year.  The team has a big rig with plenty of space for Tarah to prepare for each race, and a hospitality area for her sponsors. Tarah will again be riding the Yamaha YZ250F, and is eager to compete for the WMA championship.

Tarah would like to thank  all of her sponsors, which include: Richardson’s RV, Yamaha, Jayco, Next Level, Alpinestars, Michelin, Kicker, Oakley, Shoei, Independent Suspension, BBR, Etnies, O’gio, FMF, CTi Knee Braces, Deluge Water, American Racing, Sunstar, Hinson, Boyesen, Pro Wheel, Elf Lubricants, PPG Automotive Finishes, P.C.S. neck support, ZLT, ECC, 909 Bars, Twin Air Filters, Applied, Hot Cams, Galfer, Wiseco Pistons,  DRC Products, Zeta, Pro Clean, Engine Ice, Motosportproducts.com, Carbon Fiber Works, Mototassinari, Tekbolt, Fastway, Ultimate MX Hauler.
