Blake Sweeney Benefit Ride

  • Blake Sweeney Benefit Ride

On Saturday March 4th, 2006, 16-year old Blake Sweeney was critically injured while riding his ATV on his Grandfather’s farm. He is in Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas recovering from serious injuries to his head.

Hunter Taylor, Blake’s cousin, has organized an event that will help Blake’s family with medical costs due to this accident. Hunter is in the 8th grade I.B. program at Glenridge Middle School in Orlando, FL, and has a school project this semester that requires community service or charity work. Hunter is a motocross racer and has decided that he is going to do a 12-hour endurance ride to raise money for Blake’s treatment. He has contacted Mr. Wally Pixley, the owner of Bithlo Motorsports Park here in the Orlando, Florida area. Mr. Pixley has been gracious enough to donate the use of his track to Hunter for this event. Mr. Pixley is also acting as Hunter’s mentor, which is a requirement for the school project. Hunter will have his brother, Hayden, as a teammate for this ride for Blake. The event will consist of 12 hours of riding on a professional motocross track without stopping for anything other than fuel.

Hunter’s goal is to raise at least $5,000.00 to be donated to Blake’s medical care and treatment. Due to the increasing popularity of the sport of motorcycle and ATV riding, and the anticipated need for this type of monetary support for other families who may find themselves in this situation in the future as a result of motorcycle related accidents, it has been decided that this program will not be a one-time event. A foundation will be set up to do this every year for families of children who have been injured in similar accidents such as Blake.

Hunter appreciates any amount of money donated to this cause for Blake. He did not know that this project for his school would take on such a personal aspect, but he and Hayden are ready to take on a huge task to help their cousin. Blake is a fine young man who needs our help. Not everyone can ride a dirt bike for 12 hours straight, but you can donate needed money for Blake’s hospital care to a ride in which two young boys will do just that. Please send your donations to:
