Beau Bamburg Wins 2006 IFMA Title Championship
March 2, 2006 (Newport Beach, CA) – FMX veteran Beau Bamburg has hit a new high in his illustrious career with the title of 2006 IFMA Champion. In front of a packed house, Beau pulled off one of the best weekends of his life when he took both Saturday and Sunday night’s events, to surpass Adam Jones in overall points and snag the title.
As one of the top riders in the sport, Beau has been a part of the tour since 2001 and amassed victory totals that are comparable to those of “Cowboy” Kenny Bartram and Dustin Miller. Riders who have won championships in the past within the IFMA series such as the Vans Triple Crown include Nate Adams, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg; recent Best Trick gold medalist at the Winter X Games, as well as Mike Metzger, who have all gone on to win major competitions like The Dew Action Sports Tour, X Games, Gravity Games and the Red Bull X Fighters.
Last year Beau was plagued with injuries, but he’s battled them and come back like the true champ he is. All indicators point to this being a great year for Bamburg.
“This win is exactly what Beau needed to boost his confidence after all the injuries he suffered last year”, said Beau’s manager, Rich Swisher of the Sports Syndicate. “I’m totally stoked for him. To put it out there two nights in a row proves he has the mettle to take it to the level of the Kenny Bartrams and Jeremy Stenbergs of the FMX world. If his performances continue to be as solid, he’s sure to among the top ranked riders this year.”
“I’m really happy with the way I’m riding”, said Beau. “I definitely have more work to do, for sure, but this win absolutely helps with the confidence. My goal is to ride better than ever, and be up there on the podium as many times as I can this year.”
Beau will be in Arizona for a few weeks practicing for the upcoming Dew Action Sports Tour and Summer X Games. After a series of 4th place finishes, could this be the year he brings home a medal?
