Loretta's Area Qualfiers Begin, Hurricane Hills Regional Moved

Morgantown, WV – The summer of motocross starts now, as Area Qualifiers for the AMA/Air Nautiques Nationals at Loretta Lynn’s begin this weekend. Cooperland in Stillwater, OK will host the first Area Qualifier this weekend as part of the South Central Regional series.

“An Area Qualifier is the first step to a national championship at Loretta Lynn’s,” says MX Sports Director Tim Cotter. “All 64 races are designed to offer a safe and fair qualification format for riders in all areas of the country.”

Riders that qualify through their area earn a spot at a Regional Championship, and finishing in a qualifying spot there will seed riders into the national at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.

MX Sports also announces a location change for the Regional Championships, as the Northeast Youth Regional Championship on June 24 and 25 has been moved from Hurricane Hills in Clifford, PA to Broome-Tioga Raceway in Binghamton, NY.

“Overall, Broome-Tioga has better facilities,” said Tom Herd, who runs both tracks. “We think it will make for a better event for everyone, racing at the Broome-Tioga national track.”

The 25th Anniversary AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s begin Monday, July 31st, with motos beginning Tuesday, August 1st and concluding on Saturday, August 6th.

The AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships is the world’s largest amateur motocross race. In 2005, over 22,000 entries attempted to qualify in 33 classes for the event. The 2005 National was held August 1 – 6, 2005 at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Winning an AMA Amateur National Championship is considered the launch pad to a lucrative pro motocross career.
