Makita Suzuki’s Berluti Honored by Mechanix Wear
BREA, Calif. (Feb. 16, 2006) - American Suzuki Motor Corp.
(ASMC) congratulates veteran mechanic Tony Berluti, who was awarded the
Mechanix Wear® Outstanding Achievement Award at round five of the Amp’d
Mobile AMA Supercross Series in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 4,
2006. Berluti works on the Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 that Ivan
Tedesco put on the podium at that race in Anaheim.
“I’m really honored to win this award from a company like Mechanix
Wear, who support the mechanics and the job we do,” said Berluti.
“I also want to thank Roger DeCoster and the whole Makita Suzuki team
for their tremendous support over the years.”
Mechanix Wear is the creator of the first high-performance work glove
designed specifically for mechanics. Each year, the Mechanix Wear
Outstanding Achievement Award is presented to professional racing
mechanics that have enjoyed significant success in their field and have
displayed outstanding professionalism and sportsmanship throughout
their career.
Berluti began his career as a professional motocross mechanic in
1987. He later became a mechanic for the factory Makita Suzuki
motocross team, where he has remained throughout his career.
Berluti currently looks after the bikes of AMA Motocross Lites and AMA
West Supercross Lites Champion Ivan Tedesco. In his 18 years as a
motocross mechanic, Berluti has worked with many riders, including
Buddy Antunez, Damon Huffman, Ezra Lusk, Robbie Reynard, Stephane
Roncada and Sebastien Tortelli.
