Star Racing/Lucas Oil Takes Another Step Up at A3
Round three of the AMA Supercross Series took place back in Anaheim,
California this weekend. The Star Racing/Lucas Oil team is on a upward
swing as of late thanks to Sean Collier.
The night started off strong in Colliers heat race where he nabbed a
great start on his fiery fast Yamaha YZ 250f. After picking off a few
riders, early on Sean settled into second and began to pick lines for
the 15 lap main event. He then went back to the semi, studied his short
six lap race on video to find the time that needed to be made up.
For the main event, Sean’s newfound confidence paid off right away. He
lined up with all the heavy players to the inside of him that was a
risk, but once again, his technique and motor pulled through. Rounding
the first turn in fourth Sean would remain in the top five until close
to halfway mark. Striving to up his pace, the whoop section started to
give him troubles and nearly took him out of the race a few different
laps. That is when Sean decided to back it down a notch and slipped
down to seventh. However, luck would play into his hands on the last
lap. The fifth and sixth place riders crashed together putting Sean
back into the fifth position where he would finish out. All in all a
good night being Yamahas top finishing rider and now it’s time to move
on to his next goal, a podium ride!
