Canadians Dylan Wright, Cole Pranger Updates After Budds Creek National

Canadians Dylan Wright and Cole Pranger came down across the border to race the AMA Pro Motocross Championship finale at Budds Creek Motocross Park over the weekend. We have seen Wright a couple of times over the last handful of years, sneaking in a race or two down here in the United States when it worked with his Canadian Triple Crown Series schedule. The multi-time Canadian MX Champion suffered a crash in the second 450 Class group B qualifying session that ended his day early and resulted in a “fractured T4 vertebra,” according to Canada’s Direct Motocross.
Pranger was making his AMA Motocross debut on Saturday when he went down right after the finish line in the opening 250 Class moto. This caused the red flag and full restart. Direct Motocross noted in a post that Pranger did in fact suffer a broken femur (to his right leg).
Direct Motocross posted the following updates:
Dylan Wright
“What was supposed to be a positive ending to a very difficult Canadian Triple Crown Series turned into a trip to an American hospital for #533 Dylan Wright.
He headed to Budds Creek Motocross Park to race the final round of the AMA Pro MotocrossChampionship in the 450 class. He qualified 17th but in Q2 had a crash that took him out for the remainder of the day.
We spoke with Team Owner Derek Schuster Monday morning and in true Dylan fashion, we're told he refused the helicopter ride out and even said he'd walk himself off the property if they tried to force a med-evac flight on him. He ended up going to the hospital via ambulance where they were concerned about upper chest and back injuries.
There were no actual broken ribs but we're told there is likely some cartilage damage. Unfortunately, they also found a fractured T4 vertebra in his back.
Dylan was treated and then drove himself home to Quebec late Saturday afternoon and is recovering there.
Heal up, Dylan, and we'll see you back when you're back to 100%.”
Cole Pranger
“Tough break for #613 Cole Pranger at his first try at an AMA Pro Motocross National at Budds Creek Motocross Park. His crash in moto 1 that caused the red flag restart resulted in a broken right femur.
In classic motocrosser's mindset he said, "Still pumped I got in!"
He'll get surgery down south tomorrow (Sunday).
All the best on a speedy recovery, Cole.”
