Haiden Deegan Will Race 450 Class at Budds Creek if He Clinches 250 Title

With a break in the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) calendar, Haiden Deegan has used this week to hop on a Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing YZ450F. According to Star Racing founder Bobby Regan, Deegan is already going plenty fast and looks capable on the big bike. So, now the team has given him the green light to race one in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship at the Budds Creek National finale if he can wrap the 250 title early.
Deegan currently holds a 45-point lead over Jo Shimoda, which means he would need to increase his gap by six points over four motos at Ironman and Unadilla to clinch before the final round and not rely on a tie breaker.
Deegan has a solid record at Budds Creek, winning the 250 class last year and pulling a huge lead in the first moto of 2023 until the race was red flagged and restarted due to a crash.
Deegan will have to jump down to a 250 again for the SMX Playoffs as he looks to make it three straight 250SMX titles. Could he shake things up in a one-off 450 ride? We might get to find out soon.
