Shane McElrath To Race 250F in 450 Class at Daytona

With Jordon Smith and Mitchell Falk both sidelined for round five of the 250SX East Region this Saturday at Daytona, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM announced today that 250SX West Region rider Shane McElrath will race in 450SX this weekend on his 250F.
The team has been hit hard by injury in recent weeks. Smith is out for this weekend—possibly longer—due to a wrist injury initially sustained in Arlington. The team announced yesterday that he will “take time off to heal properly.”
Falk, who has been out due to a crash prior to Arlington, is not expected to return until next weekend in Indianapolis. The team also lost West Region rider Sean Cantrell last weekend at the East/West Showdown when he sustained a broken bone in his wrist at press day.
McElrath is currently third in the 250SX West Region, 17 behind points leader Adam Cianciarulo. Through six rounds of the West Region, McElrath has one win and two additional podiums.
The West Region returns March 23 in Seattle.
