  • Jeremy Seewer Signs Extension into MXGP Class with Suzuki

Due to the 23-year-old age limit in MX2 in the FIM World Motocross Championship, Suzuki’s Jeremy Seewer, who turns 23 next year, will be forced to contest the MXGP Class beginning in 2018. Already confirmed for the Team Suzuki World MX2 squad for 2017, Suzuki announced today a new deal with Seewer that will keep him with the team through 2019.

With Jeffrey Herlings moving to MXGP next year, Seewer, who finished with 10 podiums in 18 rounds and finished second in points this season, is an early favorite for the 2017 MX2 title. Last weekend at the Motocross of Nations, Seewer represented his home country of Switzerland, finishing third in the MX2 Class in Italy.

Seewer said he enjoyed working with team manager Stefan Everts this year, and that he wanted his future to be with Suzuki, the only team he’s ridden for since making his full-time MX2 debut in 2013.

“For me it actually was a pleasure to know and work with Stefan for my first year now. And I knew, I would decide about my future after working together with him," Seewer said. “It all worked out great this season, we want to go in the same direction, I feel good in the team so it was clear for me that I wanted to stay with them and that my future was with Suzuki.”

Everts added: “Working with Jeremy has been a pleasure, we have a good feeling and a good spirit between us. We have the same goal and same ambition. I’m very pleased that we could come to an agreement with Jeremy for the ’18 and ’19 MXGP seasons. It’s an important phase of my planning for what I want to achieve with the Suzuki Factory Team.”
