High-end motocross boots have probably made a larger leap in performance than any other product in this industry—the difference between a good boot in 1985 and 2015 is bigger than the difference between a 1985 CR250 and a modern CRF450. Take our word for it, please. DO NOT try to moto down in a 30-year old pair of boots for comparison.

Now even the lower-price boots offer solid protection. Alpinestars new $199.95 Tech 1 borrows elements from A-Star top performing boots (you know, the $500 ones). The 2-1 insole and midsole construction also integrates a steel shank system, and the front of the boot incorporates a steel toe guard similar to the Tech 8 boot. The easy to use buckle closure system is modeled after the Tech 10 boot. This is darned good stuff for $199.95.

If you want the higher-end stuff, though, Alpinestars has freshened the Tech 7, Tech 8 RS and Tech 10 boots with new colors for the New Year. 

Boots have improved immensely over the decades, now roost guards/chest protectors are finally catching up. For $99.95 Alpinestars’ new A-1 Roost Guard uses lightweight materials, and provides high ventilation and adjustability. This protection vest is also compatible with Alpinestars’ BNS Neck Support System and features a removable back plate to ensure a perfect fit.
