The FIM World Motocross Championship has finally reached European soil. After opening the season in Qatar, Thailand and Argentina, round 4 of the series kicked off today at the MXGP of Trentino in Italy. And it produced a surprising winner. Evgeny Bobryshev earned his first ever qualifying win today over Antonio Cairoli, Gautier Paulin and Ryan Villopoto. Villopoto held the lead early in the race and was in position to claim his second qualifying win until he got caught in the same rut that claimed Antonio Cairoli earlier in the race, giving way to Bobryshev. Villopoto would rebound to finish fourth.
Series points leader Clement Desalle had his troubles in Italy. The red plate holder collided with Tyla Rattray early in the race and was only able to work back to twenty-second. Rattray received medical attention following the crash and is questionable for tomorrow.
