Advance, North Carolina - Motorcycle industry racers, business owners and insiders from the motorcycle world give their uncut opinions and stories.
Joe Roberts, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike - Team Hammer
Roberts came onto the AMA Pro SuperSport scene in 2013 with a bang going five for five in the races he participated in. He raced a partial AMA Pro season since he was already committed to the Red Bull Rookies Cup, a series he had been racing in since 2011. He finished the 2013 season in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 14th overall with his best finish a fourth at Brno. For 2014 Roberts will be racing a Honda CBR600RR for Team Hammer in the Daytona SportBike class.
Mike Genova, Team Owner - Smartop MotoConcepts
MotoConcepts Racing has been in the pro paddock since 2008. Despite some incredible results over the years the team still doesn't have support from any O.E.M.'s. Their unique approach to racing sets them apart from many of the teams they compete with. Back in December they launched a scholarship program offering a fully supported and salaried rider position on the team. The winner was selected based on the most fan votes received on MotoConcepts website, the winning rider's overall performance at the first two West Coast races, and overall character. Colon Aeck won the scholarship.
Jimmy Wood, Road Race/Street/Dirt Track R&D - Race Tech
Former top flat track racer, road race track record holder, and owner of Southland Suspension, Jimmy Wood has been hired onto the Race Tech staff. Jimmy will be heading up Race Tech's R&D efforts for Road Racing, Flat Track, and Street moving forward.
Ryan Dungey, Supercross - Red Bull KTM
Dungey finished 4th this past weekend in Oakland, California, and is currently tied with teammate with Ken Roczen in the overall points standings. So far this season Ryan has two podiums. His accomplishments are extensive; including 2009 Lites Supercross and Motocross Championships, 2010 Supercross and Motocross Championships (rookie year, only second rider to accomplish this). In 2010 and 2011 he was a member of the winning U.S. Team in the Motocross Des Nations. In 2012 he reunited with his mentor Roger DeCoster and won the 450 Motocross Championship.
Tyler Bowers, Arenacross - Team Babbitts Monster Energy AMSOIL Kawasaki
Bowers has won the Arenacross title the last three years. If he could pull it off again this year he will become just the third rider to win four straight championships. It won't come easy as Tyler recently announced he has been riding with injury. He fractured his tibia at the first round of the season and has been riding through the pain. He currently sits 3rd in points. However, the points will reset later in the season as part of the "Race to the Championship" over the last four stops of the series.
