JDR Motorex KTM Primed for Broadford MX Nationals

KTM Australia’s factory Australian Motocross Championship effort, JDR Motorex KTM, will commence its 2011 title campaign this weekend when the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals season opener takes place at Broadford on Sunday, 13 March.
The Victorian venue will host the opening event of a gruelling nine-round MX Nationals series scheduled for this season, and the all-star JDR Motorex KTM team enters a formidable combination of youth and experience this year.
Heading the JDR squad’s Pro Open line-up utilising the world title-winning KTM 350 SX-F will be Queenslander Dan Reardon and Ryan Marmont – both former national champions.
For Reardon, 2011 marks a return home to Australia after competing in the U.S. since he won the title in 2007 and he’s looking to pick up where he left off four years ago.
“My bike’s good, team’s good and everything has come together nicely for the start of the season – I’m excited for this series,” the 25-year-old commented. “I knew that the JDR team would be a good team for me to join and return to Australia for this year. So far it’s been awesome.”
Marmont will make his anticipated debut in the Pro Open category and he too is confident that he can challenge for victories during the season after a positive pre-season.
“I’m really looking forward to racing the Open class since I’d been in the Lites for a long time and I think that the 350 SX-F is the perfect bike for me to do it on,” Marmont explained. “I’ve had a good year so far in 2011 so hopefully we can continue that form into Broadford.”
Another rider to return fulltime to Australia for JDR after a season in the States is Matt Moss, the talented 22-year-old spearheading JDR Motorex KTM’s three-rider Pro Lites assault for this year.
“I’m loving the 250 SX-F and also the team,” 2009 Pro Lites Champion Moss said. “Everything is ready to go for this weekend, so hopefully we can start the season with a win – that’s the plan!”
Moss will be joined by returning teammate Brenden Harrison, the Queenslander looking to build momentum after joining JDR mid-season in 2010, as well as Kilmore local Josh Cachia, who is the current Under 19s Champion stepping into the Pro Lites category.
The opening round marks the series’ return to Broadford, the venue where JDR’s Pro Open rider Andrew ‘Sharky’ McFarlane tragically lost his life in May last year. In memory of McFarlane, the entire JDR team will wear black polo shirts featuring the ‘Sharky’ logo in the pit area throughout the weekend.
Other KTM-mounted competitors to watch for this weekend include the Coastal KTM duo of Robbie Marshall (Pro Open) and Jay Wilson (Under 19s); Top Gear KTM’s Lewis Woods (Pro Open) and Dylan Long (Under 19s); MXRAD’s Beau Ralston (Pro Open); Mandurah City KTM’s Louis Calvin (Pro Open); Action Motorcycles’ Brendan Duck (Pro Open) and KTM Brisbane’s Luke Reardon (Under 19s).
This year’s MX Nationals series will see each and every round feature four 15-minute motos contested back-to-back for the premier Pro Open category, while the Pro Lites and Under 19s divisions will be contested over two sets of back-to-back motos in the morning and afternoon.
