Violation1.com/Shea Racing Ready for Lites East Region Opener
is ready for AMA Supercross Lites East Region opener
HOUSTON – Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear, powered by Munn Racing KTM, is ready to transition to the East Region for Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas this Saturday, February 12. This is the hometown race for the team and the debut for new team riders Tevin Tapia and Ricky Renner and returning team member Vernon McKiddie on their KTM 250 SX-F race bikes.
Two years ago, Shea Racing debuted its new AMA Supercross team right here at the Houston round. The team has evolved drastically as it expanded to campaign five riders in both East and West regions on KTM “Ready to Race” bikes fielded out of an impressive bright purple, yellow and black semi rig hauler.
The East Region Lites roster is Tapia of Boney Lake, Wash., Renner of Lakeland, Fla. and McKiddie of Huffman, Texas. Tapia, riding the number 70 KTM 250 SX-F and Renner on the number 94 KTM are new to the team, while McKiddie competing on the number 129 KTM returns for his second year. All three riders have been practicing on their KTM race bikes since late last year.
The goal is for all three Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear riders to qualify for the night program and then earn a heat race transfer to the AMA Supercross Lites main event on their Eleven 10 Mods/DR.D/Enzo KTM 250 SX-F race bikes.
“We are ready to drive down the road from our shop and take on the East Region Lites class,” said Tim Shea, team manager. “Our program is much different and vastly improved from last year. During the West Region series we proved our team can be competitive on our KTM race bikes. Vernon [McKiddie] and the team have a good relationship with one season under our belt, so we know what is required to support him in getting to the main event. We welcome Tevin [Tapia] and Ricky [Renner] on board the team and will provide support on race day to get them both into the main.”
Shea continued, “Besides a hometown race for our team, this is also a home state race for our presenting sponsor National Switchgear that is based in Lewisville, Texas which is near Dallas. We expect to host a number of National Switchgear guests. Houston is also one of the locations for our other corporate sponsor, Travisa. A few Travisa representatives will be in our hospitality area as well. We encourage fans to stop by our pit to check us out and meet some new faces to our sport.”
Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear, powered by Munn Racing KTM, will head to round six of Monster Energy AMA Supercross on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, which serves as the opening round of the East Region Lites series. Fans attend the event to see East Region Lites racers Tevin Tapia #70, Ricky Renner #94 and Vernon McKiddie #129 on their DeCal Works-emblazoned KTM 250 SX-F race bikes with bodies fueled by PowerBar. During the pit party stop by the cannot-miss team’s purple and yellow semi hauler to meet the riders and the Violation Goggles girls. Keep posted to the team at www.sheamoto.com.
