ANAHEIM, Calif. – When racers lined up for the first West Region Lites heat race of the 2011 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship, they were joined by the debut of Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear team riders on their Munn Racing KTMs. Both team riders for the West Region, Austin Howell and Casey Hinson, qualified for the night program at Angels Stadium of Anaheim on Saturday, January 8.

Excitement was in the air in Anaheim as new teams debuted, riders switched teams, rookies began their first season, programs expanded, and new sponsors came on board. This was true with Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear with its new corporate sponsors and West Region riders Howell and Hinson. The team will also compete in the East Region rounds.

Howell on his orange KTM 250 SX-F number 61 qualified 20th to make the night program from a long list of pro riders who made the trek to Anaheim. His teammate on the number 149 KTM, Hinson qualified in 24th place to also transfer to the night program. That set the debut, in front of a sold out crowd, for the expanded Shea Racing team and its new riders in the 250cc Supercross Lites class.

Howell and Hinson both were put in heat race one. They battled with 20 other competitors on their powerful Eleven 10 Mods/DR.D/Enzo Suspension KTM 250SX-F race bikes. Howell finished the heat in 13th place, only four sports from a transfer to the main, and Hinson landed in 15th place. The Shea Racing riders needed to go to the LCQ in order to make the main event. Hinson had a second place start and was on a tear in third later in the race when it got red flagged. On the restart, his teammate Howell got a second place start this time around and crashed over the triple jump on the first lap ending his night. Hinson, still in the race, pushed ahead to finish sixth, four places back of transferring to the main.

“There was a lot of intensity at the opening round and our guys were ready to battle,” said Tim Shea, team manager. “They put everything on the line and we had their Munn Racing KTMs ready. We are thankful for the opportunity to present Violation Goggles, National Switchgear, Travisa and our many other sponsors to AMA Supercross fans and in front of a live television audience. We’ll be using this week to make some set-up changes, and Austin and Casey will be on the tracks in California everyday this week honing their speed and Supercross skills.”

Shea continued, “We invite AMA Supercross fans to come to Chase Field this Saturday in Phoenix. Stop by our pit to check out our orange/black/yellow KTM 250SX-F bikes, our new rig and meet the riders.”

Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear powered by Munn Racing KTM will head to round two of Monster Energy AMA Supercross on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Come to the race to see the team’s West Region Lites racers competing in the night program on their DeCal Works-emblazoned KTM 250SX-F race bikes. During the pit party stop by the cannot-miss team’s purple and yellow race semi hauler to meet the riders and the Violation Goggles girls. Keep posted to the team at www.sheamoto.com.
