MXDesignz.com/Shea Racing Report: Toronto

  • MXDesignz.com/Shea Racing Report: Toronto
TORONTO – It’s a long trek for an independent, privately-funded team to head from Houston, Texas to Canada’s largest city, Toronto, Ontario. But Team MXdesignz.com/Shea Racing is committed to the entire Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship. The plan paid off with Teddy Parks earning his first Supercross Class finish with a 16th place, which also notched the first-ever Supercross Class finish for the team.

The typical rocky track at the Rogers Centre was the longest indoor race of the series. The Toronto Supercross was round 10, the only non-United States venue in the 17-round series.

Parks, competing on his JM Racing-tuned Kawasaki KX450F, headed into the heat race to build confidence competing among the very best in the world knowing that on this night he would make the main event. In heat number one he rode smooth and finished ninth to officially transfer to the main. In the main event, where lap times were some of the longest due to the length of the track, Parks rode smart and took advantage of gaining experience riding in his first-ever Supercross Class main event to finish in 16th place. Even with every Supercross Class qualified rider transferring to the main event, Parks’ game plan and effort put him ahead of two factory-backed racers when the checkers flew.

This main event finish places Parks into the AMA Supercross points, sitting in 32nd.

McKiddie was the second Team MXdesignz.com/Shea Racing rider who made the trip to Toronto to compete in the Lites Class. He qualified 20th on the rocky but dry and technical course. In his heat race, McKiddie got a poor start on his Kawasaki KX250F and worked his way up to a 15th-place finish. This led to the LCQ where he started a much stronger fourth and finished fifth just three places shy of the main event. The consistency in the LCQ and running closer to the front will bring more confidence to this rider for upcoming East Coast rounds.

“We made a commitment to travel the entire AMA Supercross series which as many know is a significant financial strain,” said Tim Shea, team manager. “It paid off for us and our sponsors in spades this past Saturday in Toronto. We are so pumped – getting to the main and finishing with points make the sacrifices during the past few months well worth it. This main event finish was only possible with our team sponsors such as PowerBar, FLY Racing and DeCal Works that continue to support us. We are excited to be at our home state this coming Saturday in Dallas to build on Teddy’s Supercross Class main event performance and get Vernon into the Lites main.”

Supercross fans you will be entertained by the racing and the activities Team MXdesignz.com/Shea Racing has planned when you head to the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas this Saturday, March 20. This is the first-ever AMA Supercross to be held in this new football stadium. Head over to the team’s pit—you cannot miss the graffiti girl wrap on the team rig—to meet the four MXdesignz.com/Shea Racing girls, see the MXdesignz clothing line, and meet the riders. Make sure to get photos with the team girls and riders!
