  • Unbound Energy's Dan Reardon Podiums at U.S. Open

CORONA, Calif. – Unbound Energy’s Dan Reardon (GEICO Powersports/Honda) closed out the American supercross season with a strong 3rd place overall premier class finish this past Friday and Saturday nights at the 2009 U.S. Open of Supercross held at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Arena.

The Australian 250 class expert, who missed the entire MX Nationals season due to injury, proved that he’s worked hard to make the comeback for the Anaheim 1 SX opener with his performance at the MGM. Reardon opened Friday’s racing with a 2nd place finish in the second heat race, a little over three seconds back of factory Honda racer Davi Millsaps. In Friday’s main Reardon trailed only eventual winner James Stewart for much of the race, before getting caught late by Millsaps. He’d settle for a 3rd place podium finish.

On Saturday Reardon continued to blaze and trimmed some time off his top lap time in his heat race, going sub-44 seconds (43.496) for the first time and winning the second heat race outright. In the main Reardon stayed on the gas hard through the first turn – pulling the weekend’s second main event holeshot. Caught by Stewart, Reardon would only lose ground to factory premier class racers before taking 4th. His 3rd/4th finishes giving him 3rd place overall for the weekend with 40 points.

“I had a blast. Thanks again to GEICO Powersports/Honda for making this all happen,” said Reardon. “It felt good to get up on the box with to top guys in the 450 class. Makes me look forward to Anaheim 1.”
