Nick Wey’s Dialed In For SX With The MDK/KTM Factory Program
Word on the streets is Wey’s haulin’ the mail on his new MDK/KTM ride and looking forward to returning to the Angels Stadium podium this weekend in Anaheim, Calif.
CARLSBAD, Calif., (Jan. 4, 2008) – Things have been fairly quiet at Nick Wey’s MDK/KTM Factory camp the past several weeks as Wey prepared to launch his 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, campaign in what’s expected to be another massive crowd at Anaheim’s (Calif.) Angels Stadium tomorrow night.
Wey, who was on the podium at the third Anaheim installment last year, is looking to rebound from a not-so-great 2007 Outdoor Nationals season that saw him finish outside the top 12 for the first time in his ten year career.
“When I’ve been healthy for supercross I’ve been able to finish in the top five,” said Wey, who was 5th in 2006, 5th in ’04 and 4th in ‘03. “So that plan is to stay healthy and put the MDK/KTM back in the top five, work hard to get on the podium along the way.”
Stepping up to back Wey this year, along with MSR and KTM, will be a number of high level sponsors, including: Spy Optic, Oxtar, Vans and Bell.
“Nick’s been on it,” said MSR rep Randy Valade, a longtime buddy and competitor of Wey’s. “He looks real comfortable on the new bike and is riding as smooth and fast as I’ve ever seen him. We’re all looking forward to the gate dropping this weekend and seeing how the No. 27 can do against the world’s best at Anaheim.”
