  • KTM Junior Supercross Challenge Returns for 12th Season

AURORA (December 26, 2007) – Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc., announced today the return of the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge (KJSC) to the 2008 Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season.

Entering its 12th year, the KJSC has showcased the talent of more than 2,500 boys and girls at premier stadiums around the world. The KJSC not only gives boys and girls the opportunity to compete on the same track as their heroes, it promotes motorcycling as a family activity – exciting and accessible – for kids. Traditionally, the boys and girls walk to the starting line accompanied by their father/mechanic while Mom, brother and sister cheer in the stands.

From the first practice lap to the final race, the KJSC offers a safe, supportive and entertaining environment for all riders, parents and fans. The KJSC is a fantastic opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in the excitement of supercross from a very unique perspective, and to enjoy the sport as a fun and rewarding experience.

"Over the past decade, the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge has become an integral part of each Monster Energy® Supercross race," said Todd Jendro, sr. director of operations, Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc. “The program provides an exciting and entertaining element for our supercross audience, but more importantly, the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge serves as a shining example of the positive role that motorcycling plays as a family activity. To see the joy on the faces of both the competitors and the fans is rewarding and we are proud to work with KTM continuing to promote this positive example of our sport.”

Sel Narayana, KTM vice president of event promotions stated, “Celebrating the 12-year anniversary of the KJSC program this year is an incredible milestone. The effort that Live Nation and KTM have presented to the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge shows the true testament of what passion can accomplish for the sport of motorcycling.”

He continued, “KTM provides a unique experience, not only for the rider but also for the entire family. Because of the parents’ involvement, the dream can become a reality. These young riders are the future of our sport and KTM is here to nurture their dreams. KTM’s effort and dedication will continue for years to come.”

For 2008, the KJSC application process remains the same as in years past.  Interested riders 7-8 year olds must meet the requirements stated in the official rules, which can be found with the application forms obtained at an authorized KTM dealer. The KJSC is held at 16 of the Monster Energy® Supercross races. Any additional inquiries about the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge should be directed to local KTM dealerships.
