  • Increased Exposure, Improved Schedule for 2008 AMA Toyota MX Championship
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (Dec. 5, 2007) – With the recent schedule released by AMA Pro Racing of the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF, fans of the venerable outdoor motocross series can now expect a season filled with close competition, excellent marketing and television exposure, as well as an improved racing schedule.

The new schedule features a more condensed and travel-friendly circuit and is a result of communication with teams, riders and sponsors. The 2008 series will include all 12 returning venues repositioned to create better travel patterns with less down time and potentially improved weather. The start of the series has also been pushed back two full weeks in an effort to allow teams and riders additional time to prepare for the switch from supercross to motocross.

“We’re really looking forward to some of the new changes in store for next year, especially the new schedule,” explained National Promoters Group (NPG) Director of Operations John Ayers. “The recent changes and improvements are a direct result of our relationship with AMA Pro Racing, and the NPG’s commitment to the riders, teams and the series. Our 12 track owners/promoters have an agreement in place through 2009 and we’re committed to investing in each venue which we believe will allow the sport to realize its full potential.”

The improved schedule is included in an impressive list of series enhancements being planned for the upcoming season by the NPG and AMA Pro Racing. In keeping with the group’s long-term plan and overall direction, the series will see continued improvements in on-site amenities and spectator access, including increased bleachers and upgraded viewing areas and an expansion of sponsor and media hospitality.

“The NPG meets several times throughout the year as a group to develop an overall plan and maintain our direction,” said Denver promoter David Clabaugh, whose Toyota Trucks Thunder Valley Motocross National featured three Jumbotron video screens, post-race satellite feeds and live video web streaming. “I’ve been a part of the NPG now for three years and have come to appreciate the communication and quality standards that are in place with our group. Having traveled to the events the past couple summers I can say first hand that I’m quite impressed with the various upgrades to our facilities.”

Combined with another full season of two separate one-hour telecasts broadcasted on SPEED and the largely popular and successful live video web streaming, the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF is shaping up to be another great season of racing as returning champions Ryan Villopoto and Grant Langston look to defending their titles.
