Former AMA MX/SX factory rider’s best finish of the year so far
CARLSBAD, Calif., (June 6, 2007) – Former Suzuki factory rider Sean Hamblin (Murietta, Calif.), competing in Europe this summer for the UK-based Swift Suzuki team, scored a season-best 2nd place finish in the British MX Championships this past weekend.
In the first moto Hamblin raced through the pack, passing current series leaders Tommy Searle and Gareth Swanpoel and closing on eventual moto winner and fellow American, Mike Brown, before settling on 2nd place. In the second moto Hamblin got out of the gate in 10th and worked to make his move for the overall. Passing a host of top flight racers, Hamblin again made the podium (3rd) – which was good enough for 2nd overall on the day.
“Felt good to get up there on the box. Now I just need to continue to carry that momentum back into the GP Series,” said Hamblin.
Hamblin is currently in 5th place overall in the British MX Championship title chase, 42 points out of the lead with plenty of racing remaining this summer.
Next up for Hamblin and the Swift Suzuki team is the St. Jean d’Angely (France) round of the GP Series, June 15th.
