Dakar Rally Star Chris Blais to Appear at Indy Dealer Expo
Feb 9, 2007 - Dealers attending the Dealernews Indianapolis trade show next weekend will have a special opportunity to meet America's #1 motorcycle rally star, Chris Blais. In January the 26-year-old Red Bull KTM U.S. Dakar team rider competed in his third consecutive Dakar Rally, finishing a career best third place overall.
"Dakar was fantastic this year. I had a great team backing me and things went very smoothly," Blais reports. "In preparation for Dakar 2008, this year I'll run the Baja 500, Baja 1000, some Best in the Desert events, and select rally events."
In addition to his formidable racing talents, Blais is a skilled technician and fabricator. His Apple Valley, CA-based company "Blais Racing Services" produces a variety of "Blais-Approved" accessories and services, including suspension & engine components, aftermarket exhaust and other performance parts. Blais plans to make the most of his visit to Indy and hopes to add substantially to his current product lineup.
"People who don't know me are often surprised when they learn that a racer can do more than just twist a throttle," said Blais. "I prefer to build and prep my own race bikes and this business allows me to provide those resources for other racers and teams as well."
During a break in the action at Indy, Blais will sign limited addition Dakar autograph cards for lucky dealers Saturday Feb. 17 at the National Powersport Auctions (NPA) booth #1809 at the convention center. Appearance time will be posted on Friday.
