Simon Längenfelder Update After MXoN: “It’s a shame to finish the year like this”

Team Germany looked good on Saturday in the qualifying races at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations when Ken Roczen got second in the MXGP qualifying race and Simon Längenfelder got fourth in the MX2 race. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the weekend for the team.

In the start of the first moto on Sunday, Längenfelder went down in the first turn and got ran over by another rider. His day was over, which was a tough blow for Team Germany. Roczen (MXGP) suffered a crash in the second turn—all alone—and then had to charge back through the field. The USA crowd was cheering incredibly loud for Roczen as he started dead last by himself, acknowledging the efforts of the long-time USA-based rider. Roczen had crashes in both motos and had to fight through the field as he finished 12-18 in his motos. The third German rider, Maximilian Spies, finished 22-30 in the Open Class. Overall, Team Germany finished 15th in the team scoring.

Längenfelder officially scored 20th overall in the MX2 Class. In the post-race KTM press release, he said the following:

He took to Instagram for a more in-depth update, saying several ribs and his scapula (shoulder blade) are broken. Tough end to the year for the 2025 MX2 FIM Motocross World Champion after his strong year en route to his first professional championship.
