- Childhood dreams come true
Frankfurt — Maximilian Spies has been announced as the second of three German team riders for the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations 2025. For the first time, the team management has selected Spies to race in the most prestigious MX event of the year, taking place on October 4–5 at the legendary “Ironman Raceway” in Indiana, USA. Following the announcement of Simon Längenfelder for the MX2 class and Spies in the Open category, the rider for the MXGP class will be officially revealed in the coming days.
Spies with Start Number 18 in the Open Class
The 21-year-old Spies has been part of the German national squad several times but has now been selected for the race team for the first time. The Becker Racing rider recently showcased his fast pace by winning last weekend’s ADAC MX Masters race in Gaildorf, but also has proven his endurance, fighting spirit, and ability to handle the challenging conditions of the World Championship by putting in solid performances in his occasional MXGP starts.
“It’s hard to put into words how happy I am to be part of the team. Since the MXoN in Teutschenthal in 2013, it has been my childhood dream. This will also be my first time in the USA, so two dreams will come true at once. At the MXoN in Ernée two years ago, I was on-site as a reserve rider and gained valuable insights into the team’s operations. The squad has a lot of experience, and if we all stick together, something good can come out of it. I only know the Ironman track from videos, but I’m already looking forward to the big jumps and the mixed soil. Combined with the high speed of the track, I think it will suit me well. I’m also looking forward to the German fans on-site, who will cheer us on. I will give it my all and ride with pride and heart,” said Spies.
Team Management Statement
Team managers Marcel Dornhöfer and Karsten Schneider cited several factors for their decision to select Spies: “Alongside a very strong ADAC MX Masters season so far, Max has proven in his Grand Prix appearances that he can turn his pace into solid results. He has quickly adapted to the MXGP-conditions with deep ruts and shown that he can perform well on all types of terrain — something he has just confirmed once again,” said the team management.
