Jalek Swoll Provides Update: “Just Took a Quick Nap on Saturday I’ll Be Okay”
Jalek Swoll has provided an update after his crash right off the start of the first moto at the first SMX Playoffs round of the SuperMotocross World Championship. On the very inside of the track, Swoll briefly went off course, which caused a change in traction and sent him right, into the rear wheel of Haiden Deegan, causing the #33 machine to go down hard. Swoll was not moving and with the remaining 21 riders about to come barreling down the section of track he was laying on, the race was quickly red flagged. Swoll laid motionless for a minute or so while the Alpinestars medical crew tended to him. Eventually, he was helped to his feet and onto the medical cart. His day was done as he did not start the second moto.
The Triumph Racing post-race press release said the following:
Unfortunately, after showing good pace in qualifying, Swoll had to sit out the remainder of the event after being forced wide off the start of the first 250SMX main and crashing heavily. …Placing 10th in 250SX timed qualification was a brilliant way to begin the race program and naturally, hopes were high as he entered moto one. Sadly, just metres from the start gate, the #33 was pushed wide and tangled with another rider, which resulted in the TF 250-X rider going down hard. Swoll received immediate medical attention before being taken for further checks. Updates on his condition will be published in due course. …
Bobby Hewitt – Triumph Racing USA Team Principal:
"Jalek showed so much promise earlier today, so it was a massive disappointment to see him get tangled in that start crash in moto one. You need a bit of luck in racing, and it was not on our side today! We'll focus forward now. The priority is making sure that Jalek is 100% and getting him back to that brilliant form that he showed before the crash."
Then, on Sunday, Swoll took to Instagram in a roundabout way to say he was knocked out in the crash. He will enter concussion protocol entering next weekend’s SMX Playoff 2 round in Texas.
Swoll entered the SMX Playoffs eighth in combined 250cc AMA Supercross and Motocross points but leaves the first round with zero points added and now sits 17th.
