Wil Hahn will compete in the full six-round Australian Supercross Championship later this year with the National Pump/Monster Energy Kawasaki team, the team announced today.
The 26-year-old has been out of action since late February after breaking his collarbone, scapula and tearing his labrum in a multi-rider crash at the Atlanta Supercross. Hahn is back on the bike and may return for the final two rounds of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross. He will make his debut with the team riding in SX1 (450 Class) at the opening round of the championship at Jimboomba in Queensland on September 17.
“I’m excited to compete at new venues and another part of the world,” Hahn said in a statement. “I’ve been over to a few places in Australia before and I’m really looking forward to combining my career with the travel and experience of a new country. To be starting the series at Jimboomba and then be part of it all the way through to the AUS-X Open, it’s special for me. There will be American guys on the line with me, as well as the top Australians, so the level of racing will be really high.”
Hahn said he will arrive in Australia the first week in September and stay through the entire series which ends on November 13 in Sydney for the AUS-X Open.
“I will do most of my preparation here in the US, probably until the first week of September, and then I will head over to Australia and stay there the whole time,” he said. “That allows me to combine my base settings with the great KX450F of the National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team.”
Team manager Troy Carroll added: “We are very pleased to have Wil Hahn join National Pump/Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team for the full Australian Supercross Championship season and know that he will be a great asset to the team. From Jimboomba all the way through to the AUS-X Open, Wil will be a professional addition to the series and we look forward to working with him.”
