Just three months after breaking his femur during qualifying in Oakland, MAD Racing/Dirt Candy Suzuki’s Luke Clout has already resumed riding and is expected to race the opening round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship on May 21 at Hangtown.
“First day back on the bike felt really good. It feels so good to be back riding, I’m really starting to feel like myself again,” said Clout in a team statement.
Clout, a former MX2 Australian Champion and member of the Australian Motocross of Nations team, originally signed with the team as a fill-in for the injured Daniel Baker back in January. Clout only got in a few days of testing with the team before Round 3 of Monster Energy Supercross at Anaheim. He would finish fourteenth in his debut.
A week later, before his injury in Oakland, the team announced they had signed Clout to a two-year deal. “We are excited about having Luke [Clout] join the team. With his first week results we look forward to the rest of the West Coast 250SX and are working to get him completely comfortable on the RM-Z250,” said the team at the time.
Clout will make his American motocross debut at Hangtown.
