51FIFTY Yamaha’s Hayden Mellross announced on Instagram today that “everything checked out ok” and that he’ll “hopefully be back training in a few days,” after his horrific crash in the 250SX main event last night in Santa Clara.
After getting out to a top ten start in the main event, Mellross made a mistake and nose wheelied through the Tuff Blocks before landing on a security gate. The Australian was able to get up under his own power, but was unable to finish the race.
In his first year with 51FIFTY, and in Monster Energy Supercross, he has four top fifteen finishes on the year.
Luckily he’s just sore this morning, this could have gone wrong in so many ways.
