Rockstar Energy Drink and FMC are excited to announce the forming of a partnership with Husqvarna Motorcycles USA to campaign the 2016 AMSOIL Arenacross season. The 14-round series kicks of January 9th in Cincinnati, OH and wraps up in Las Vegas, NV on the weekend of May 6/7.
The team will be managed and operated by former Illinois-based motocrosser Junior Jackson, whose promising pro career ended at an early age due to injuries. But with over 15 years of motor and suspension work experience, Jackson has been a very integral part in the success of a number of top riders including Chad Johnson and Josh Demuth, to name a few.
“We’re very pleased with this development and the opportunity to work with Junior Jackson again, with whom we worked for a few years stateside when Bobby Kiniry raced AMSOIL Arenacross for Junior’s team, FFC Racing,” OTSFF Sports Marketing Group’s Andre Laurin noted. “For OTSFF this is strictly an American venture with Husqvarna and does not in any way affect our Canadian association with Yamaha. This new deal we have in place with Rockstar and Husky is part of our mission to keep branding OTSFF in the States, something we started in earnest this year with the Terracross Series.”
Spearheading the team, officially known as Rockstar Energy Drink Husqvarna Factory Racing presented by FMC and OTSFF, will be Kyle Regal, 2015 AMSOIL Arenacross Champion. Regal, who hails from Howell, MI, nailed the hard-won title by just four points, an indication of the competitiveness of the series. Regal cleared the task with consistent top-five finishes that included seven main wins.
Rounding out the team will be Woodland, CA’s Gared Steinke and Middleport, NY’s Kyle Bitterman. Steinke finished ninth overall in the 2015 points chase, snaring two main wins in the process. His best arenacross ranking to date was racked up in 2014, when he claimed eighth overall.
Up-and-comer Kyle Bitterman’s debut in the AMSOIL Arenacross this year looks promising. He had just won the 2014/15 FMF Winter Indoor Series Championship in the 250 class, (taking home second in the 450), and wanted to keep the momentum going. A crash at Round 6 of the AMSOIL Arenacross season, however, left him with a broken femur and a season that was more or less a write-off. Bitterman is now eagerly anticipating the 2016 season to set things right.
With the series rapidly approaching, Regal, Steinke, and Bitterman have been busy testing and training and are fully set to go for the opening round in Cincinnati on January 9th.
“I feel like we’ve assembled a very strong team for the 2016 AMSOIL Arenacross series and we’re ready to go racing. Obviously we have the number one guy in Kyle Regal, but we have two other riders that can podium weekly as well. Add into the mix what I consider the best 250F dirt bike on the market and you’ve got a combination that’s second to none,” said Junior Jackson.
