GEICO Honda’s Blake Wharton will miss the next two rounds after tweaking his knee before Detroit, which will require surgery. He is expected back after the East Region break following St. Louis and hopes to race the final two rounds.
"I'll miss Toronto and St. Louis, so that's two weeks of recovery time, then the tour goes back out west, so I'll have two more weeks to heal up," said Wharton in a team PR. "Hopefully, that will be enough to get ready for New York and Vegas. I'm not ready to quit by any means."
In other GEICO news, Eli Tomac is questionable for this weekend in Toronto.
"We're taking it day by day," said John Tomac, Eli's father in a team PR. "We're in California training and doing all we can to get Eli back on the track. We'll probably make the call about this weekend on Thursday. We'll just have to see how the next few days go."
Tomac has missed the past two rounds after aggravating a previous shoulder injury in practice at Daytona.
