Supercross is just around the corner and yes, we know, the “Stacked! Stacked! Stacked!” angle gets beaten to death each season, but we’ve got statistical proof to show you just how stacked the 2014 field really is. We’re talking Monster Girl stacked! We’ve put together a list of what a 450SX starting gate might look like at some point this season, then totaled up the wins and championships on that line to show just how talented the current field truly is. Take a look at the stats below, and if you still think we’re not living in glory days, tell us why in the comments section.

Some of those individual stats are pretty impressive, but when you look at the cumulative numbers represented by the current batch of active 450SX riders, the data is astounding.
450SX Championships: 8
250SX Championships: 16
450MX Championships: 6
250MX Championships: 9
Total Championships: 39
450SX Wins: 146
250SX Wins: 121
450MX Wins: 73
250MX Wins: 89
Total Wins: 429
Here are a few more interesting stats gleaned from the information above. There are ten active riders who have won 450SX races (four of them have won over ten each), and if you throw in 250SX wins, there are sixteen different active riders who have won supercross races! That’s nearly a full main event gate.
In terms of championships, we’ve got four different riders who have won 450SX titles. If you include 250SX titles, there are thirteen supercross champions who will be doing battle in 2014.
Finally, if you include wins and championships from both Monster Energy Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, there are eighteen racers who have won races, thirteen of whom have won titles. In other words, 82 percent of the 22-man field have won races, and 59 percent are champions.
Check out the data. What patterns and/or interesting stats stick out to you?
