BROC TICKLE (No. 20 Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki Z450) Finished 10th
TALK ABOUT YOUR MAIN EVENT: “I felt that my Main Event ride was the best that I’ve had all year. It stinks that I didn’t get the start that I wanted because I felt awesome in the Main. We’ll take it.”
IT LOOKED LIKE THINGS GOT PRETTY JAMMED UP AFTER THE START: “For sure. Everybody was close in times so it was really hectic out of the gate. If you made a mistake with the guy that you’re riding alongside you would get passed. Tonight was good. I’m happy with how I rode. I just need to keep improving every week. We’ll keep plugging away.”
JUST HOW PRECISE DID YOU HAVE TO BE TONIGHT IN THE RHYTHM SECTION? “The one rhythm section just passed the start-finish line was really tricky. It had a kicker in the triple at the end and a bunch of guys missed it. I had a little incident there in the middle of the race that threw me sideways. I think I lost a position and had to fight back. I’m happy with the way I rode. We’ll keep getting the bike better every week. I’ll take it.”
JOSH HILL (No. 75 Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki Z450) Finished 15th
TALK ABOUT YOUR MAIN EVENT: “I got a really bad jump out of the gate and got pinched between Broc (Tickle) and (Matt) Goerke. I tried to cut up the inside and came out okay. I made a couple mistakes and a few guys got around me and I had to pick them back off later in the race. It was an improvement from last week. We just need to keep working up the totem pole.”
BACK TO BACK MAIN EVENTS HAS TO BE A GOOD FEELING. “I got a good start (in the Heat) and tucked in around third and just tried to hang in with the lead guys. I think was up to third for two or three laps and then people just started running in on me. I just fell into a nice comfortable position because I knew that I had enough room behind me to make the Main. It felt good to get up front but once I started to get passed it kind of rocked me. At that point it became a ‘big picture’ kind of ride and rode the last few laps a bit defensive to make sure that I didn’t put the Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki on the ground.”
YOU LOOKED GOOD ON THE BIKE. “I feel great. It just feels good to get a good start and run with the leaders again. I was behind (James) Stewart and (Ryan) Villopoto for some laps and it’s great to see those guys on the race track again.”
HOW DID THE HARD RACING SURFACE AFFECT YOU SUZUKI TONIGHT? “It just makes the bikes real rigid. It doesn’t look as hard packed as it is, but it was like concrete out there. You feel every bump in the track and that’s not the greatest thing for a sore hand - oh well.”
