MotoConcepts High Point Report

  • MotoConcepts High Point Report
Spokane, WA - - MotoConcepts Racing continued its amazing run for the 2012 racing season this past weekend at High Point in front of 20,000 + fans.  For years, MotoConcepts Racing has been a backbone for the support of various racers that just needed that extra effort of support to show motocross fans their respective talent.  Each year, the support and the experience provided by MotoConcepts owner, and passionate racing fan, Mike Genova has increased.

When MotoConcepts Racing joined forces with Mike Alessi there was great optimism.  The teamwork between Mike Alessi and MotoConcepts has produced exceptional results throughout the year.  Finishing the Supercross season in great form, completing the rare feat of finishing every Main Event, the Nationals were a virtual homecoming for the Alessi.  With two top 3 overalls under his belt, High Point would set another high benchmark for the MotoConcepts Racing team.

In the first 450 Moto, Mike Alessi pulled yet another holeshot rocketing to the lead in front of 39 of the worlds best racers.  Putting his head down, Alessi rode smooth lines, attacked every obstacle and corner and opening a good lead.  At about the half-way mark, after a battling back and forth with Ryan Dungey, Alessi went a bit wide allowing the Factory KTM rider to grab the inside line.  Alessi continued his strong ride for the remainder of the moto and put his MCR450 on the box finishing second overall.

When the gate dropped for Moto 2, Alessi gated cleanly but was behind his championship rival Ryan Dungey.  Alessi turned up the heat and made an early, and clean, pass on the former champion to take the lead.  Alessi once again lead for a good portion of the race, and with the fans on cheering on the back and forth action Dungey was able to power by.  Alessi rode almost a mirror image of his moto 1 performance to finish the day with a 2-2 for 2nd overall and move back into the 2nd overall position in the championship hunt.   Alessi and Dungey have separated themselves from the pack and it looks to be a battle between these two riders for the championship.

While Mike Alessi had the banner day for MotoConcepts, the results for the rest of the team were impressive.  In the 450 class Vince Freise, suffering the effects of crash the week before at Thunder Valley, put in a heroic ride in both motos to finish with 16-14 moto finishes for 14th place overall.  Despite no factory support whatsoever for MotoConcepts Racing, the team backs riders in all three classes, lands on the podium, and now is in the championship hunt for the National title.

In the 250 class, Jake Canada put on another stellar performance in the first moto to finish in the 9th position.  The string of phenomenal results for likeable rider unfortunately took a turn in Moto 2.  While charging through the pack Canada took a hard fall and was unable to complete the moto with an injured knee; though he likely will race the next round.  With a 34th in the 2nd Moto and 9th in Moto 1, Canada still finished the day with a 14th overall.

Continuing her impressive results, Mariana Balbi continues to move forward in the pack. High Point was one of her best rides of the year, with good starts, solid rides and personal best moto finishes.  Balbi’s great day netted her a 4th overall with finishes of 4th and 3rd respectively.  Typically a 4/3 will net a podium finish and with these results, and this momentum, Balbi is looking to earn her first podium of the year at the next round.

MotoConcepts Racing has improved their team results each and every year and 2012 has solidified their presence on the motocross landscape with their collective impressive results.  .  We also thank those supporters of the team including MotoConcepts, JT Racing, WE ALL RIDE, FMF, Silkolene, MB1 Suspension, MotoGraphics, Pro Taper, NorthWest Steel Fab, Boyesen, Alpinestars, Xtrig, Dunlop, UFO, Tuf Racing, KSR Wheels, DT1, MotoOptics, All Balls, Galfer, Supersprox, Excel, Hinson, Airway MX Park, Faction Mx.
