June 11, 2012, 6:10pm
Corona, CA – Round four of the twelve stop Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship made its way east to High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, PA. Aboard a Pro Taper equipped Geico Honda, Eli Tomac became the first repeat overall winner in the 250 class. After a second in moto one, the Colorado native put on an impressive come-from-behind win in moto two to take the overall. Eli currently sits third in points, a mere 11 out of the lead.
Despite a late race crash, Tomac’s Geico Honda teammate Justin Barcia took the win in moto one. Barcia finished a solid third in the second moto, earning himself second overall on the day. In the 450 class MotoConcepts Racing’s Mike Alessi bounced back from a tough round three to grab another podium via 2-2 moto scores at High Point. Alessi battled up front all day, with a second place qualifying effort and thirteen laps led, expect Mike to climb to the top step of the podium before season’s end.
Pro Taper riders accounted for 50% of the top ten overall positions in the 450 class at this weekend’s High Point National. This is a remarkable feat and speaks volumes for the teams and riders that put their trust in Pro Taper. Congratulations to Mike Alessi, Brett Metcalfe, Ryan Sipes, Nico Izzi and Michael Byrne for their top ten finishes.
