Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda Team Rolls Through Michigan
AMA Motocross - Buchanan, MI- As the series hit the halfway mark in Red Bud, Michigan last weekend things are looking good for the Troy Lee Designs team. All the team riders are healthy, their Hondas are dialed in and each rider has shown the speed needed to run at the front.
The team's top performer this weekend was WMX star Tarah Gieger. Tarah put in two consistent, smart motos [3-3] to capture third overall and another podium finish for the Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Honda team. The finish places Tarah firmly in third spot in the points chase.
"I'm happy to be up on the podium again," said Gieger after her final moto. "I really can't thank my team enough. They put me on great equipment and it feels good to get some results for them. Ashley and Jessica are going fast right now but hopefully I can get up there and race with them in the next couple rounds."
Christian Craig linked together two consistent motos [10-10] for tenth overall in the premier 450 class. Craig didn't get one of his patented holeshots but he showed that he could stay in the mix no matter where he starts the race. His impressive outdoor season continued at Red Bud.
Cole Seely had a quiet weekend going 9-10 for ninth overall. It wasn't a bad showing but it was not indicative of Seely's capabilities either. Mediocre starts and a depth of talent in the 250 division meant that Cole would have to fight for every position and every point on Saturday. Cole sits in ninth in the standings for the season.
Travis Baker went 12-15 at Red Bud. Starts have been the main thing holding the hard-working sophomore back this year. Travis fought to the finish in both motos and his work earned him eleventh overall on the day.
The team gets a much-needed break next weekend after several rounds of racing in succession. The next stop on the tour is July 16th at Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, MN. Come meet the Troy Lee Designs Team in person if you plan on attending.
