Ankle-Savers® Rider Steinke Finishes Strong in Oakland
Steinke moved his #726 Yamaha into the main with a strong 9th place finish in Heat 2. Besides being his first trip to a main event, this was also Steinke’s first time to skip the LCQ. “I was really pumped when I realized I had made the main event,” said Steinke. “Eric (Gillen, his mechanic) and I were going nuts in the pits!” After the initial celebration, it was all business – prepping the bike and getting focused for a solid main event finish. In spite of a tough track and stellar competitors, Steinke was able to ride smooth and strong to achieve his 11th place finish. “This really means a lot to me, because it was the first. Now, I know exactly what I need to do during the week and on race day to achieve the same results.”
Moto Innovations and Ankle-Savers® congratulate Gared on his impressive finish. “We are always pleased when one of our young riders gets a chance to chase his dreams,” said Lisa Davis, Moto Innovations Rider Support Coordinator. “Gared is a great guy with tons of potential and a history of great finishes in the amateur ranks. To see him compete at the professional level and finish 11th as a privateer is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport.”
