Renegade Fuels Race Report: Atlanta
March 1, 2010 2:31pm
The Atlanta track was awesome but had a little different surface than what riders usually see at Atlanta. The track was not as tacky and rutted as the red clay usually gets. The track was slick with Loose dirt in the corners leaving riders look for traction and the fast line to make passes. The Renegade fueled GEICO Powersports-Factory Connection bikes were fast all day. Barcia and Metcalfe would set the 3rd and 7th fastest laps in the first session. They would both come out looking even faster in the second session. Barcia would laid down the fastest lap with a 56.120 and Metcalfe would move up to the 6th fastest time with a 57.205. When the heat races started, Barcia would finish 3rd in the first heat and Metcalfe would finish 2nd in the second heat. The gate was set for the main and Barcia would have the crowd on their feet with his speed and determination as he continued to put pressure and making passes o he leaders. Barcia would go down late in the main only to have some troubles with his brakes. He would finfish the night out with a 18th place finish. Metcalfe would come into the main after a hard crash earlier in the day to keep he leaders in check and ride a very solid fish to a podium finish with 3rd. Look for both of these guys to take their Renegade fueled bike to the front again next week.
In the Supercross class Kevin Windham would go out in the first session and clock the 5th fastest lap only to go back out in the second session to lay down the fastest time of 54.507. Kevin would line on the gate in heat 2 and bring home another heat win to set him up great coming into the main. He would have some trouble about half way through the main and have to settle for a 14th place finish. Watch for K-Dub to come back next week on fire. Renegade Fuels would like to congratulate each of the Geico/Factory Connection riders and team members for a great weekend and we look forward to the next round of racing.
